Blade Athlete Academy 2021,
A Training Workshop for Prosthetic Running by Para-athletes

“Blade Athlete Academy 2021” will be provided by Para-athletes, including Mr. Atsushi Yamamoto, the Asian record holder of World Para Athletics Men’s Long Jump - T63. It is a training workshop for people who are interested in running with prostheses and hosted by The KAITEKI Institute, Inc. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Hideki Murayama). Details are shown below.

Aspired by the belief of “dispelling the notion of disability”, The KAITEKI Institute (TKI) has engaged in development of prosthetic blade since 2016, using digital technologies. The project is a collaboration with Para-athletes, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo, physiotherapists, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC), and Challenge Co., Ltd. The collaboration has produced “Griffon Beak” and “Griffon Wing”, both available for sale, and “Team KAITEKI 2.0” has started this year.

Mr. Yamamoto said “I was fortunate to be able to participate in athletics by chance, which enriched my life. Although the running environment for lower limb amputees has improved, it could still be made better. We would like to help those who watched us run and are encouraged to start a sport. Inspired by his view, TKI and MCC will jointly host the workshop. It will also be co-sponsored by Challenge Co., Ltd., and MCC Sports Co., Ltd., group companies of MCC. The event will be reported followingly on corporate and company web sites.
